Tomoko Shima Hair Salon

Opened in the Upper East Side in a quiet neighborhood in October 2005, Tomoko Shima Hair Salon offers comfortable and private atmosphere for every client to feel at home.

The interior, coordinated with brick wall and the mix of peach and mandrin orange colors, creates a feminine and warm atmosphere. The soft styling chairs, which are made in Japan, are so comfortable to sit in that you don't get tired even after a long treatment. The showerheads, which include vitamins, get rid of chlorine included in the tap water and generate hair and scalp-friendly water.

We adopt the organic MOP(Modan of organic) series and the made-in Japan Crede adn Nigells series as shampoo and conditioner products, and offer the appropriate care for everyone whose hair condition is different.

Tomoko Shima (Owner & Stylist)

Since 1996 Tomoko Shima has been cutting and styling hair at Japan after pursuing Cosmetology and Make-up in Tokyo and Osaka for 5 years.Also she has experienced in NY for 7 years.

Tomoko with a skillful understanding and delicate technique in styling and hair management has been getting a good reputation and confidence from a wide range of clients, not only Asian and American, but also other nationalities.

As for cutting, Tomoko creates an elegant layer style, a spiky casual short and a complete blunt style by mainly using dry-cut technique. She also offers consultation services and aftercare advice tailored to each client's lifestyle.

Nao Suzuki -(Stylist/Colorist)

Born from artists parents, Nao Suzuki knew early on in life she would aspire to follow after them and become an artist, inspired by Classic Rock and Roll and American Fashion, Nao is a graduate of Cosmetology Beauty School of Japan.

After mastering her skills on photo shoots for trendy fashion magazines and inside for 7 years at“Acqua” salon in Tokyo’s fashionable Aoyama neighborhood she took her skills outside of Tokyo and worked internationally inside London and then moving onto New York City where she found her deep love and connection between her style and the fashion and energy of the city.

Nao brings allot to offer when you sit in her chair. Her strong techniques in thinning, chop or dry cutting learned throughout her career can offer men’s cuts ranging from chunky out of bed spiky looks, to women’s classic chic and modern cuts. Sliding angle cuts enhance the fall of the hairs natural weight. Depending on the situation and feeling to create, using highlighting and coloring techniques; Nao creates accents and spice by layering the tones of color to work within the texture and flow of the hair.

Nao thinks a great haircut should match and compliment the person’s inner feeling, and bring out their current outlook and expression.

Graziella Rotondi (Assistant /Stylist)

Grace has 5yr experience in this industry. She specialize of blow dry and setting ,hair cutting for long hair.

Also she works for bridal with Tomoko .She mainly does iron curl setting and up-do.
